ART Health Solutions has scooped £1m in funding from the North East Venture Fund for its employee wellbeing app.
The One Wellbeing app uses techniques such as cognitive performance tests, working conditions, smartphone data and fitness tracker data to analyse the health of employees.
“Ultimately the extra capital will support the business in scaling our products throughout the UK and beyond,” said Dr Phill Bell, CEO at ART Health Solutions.
For employers, it provides an overview of their staff to help improve the workplace.
Bell and Dr Paul Smith, who are both Sports scientists, founded the Newcastle-based health tech company in 2018.
They have previously worked with athletes such as former F1 driver Jensen Button, professional golfer Rory McIlroy and the England rugby team.
Alex Simpson, investment manager at Mercia, said: “Employee wellbeing and retention is now a key concern for employers.
“One Wellbeing sets itself apart from similar apps by including results from cognitive tests and focusing on the fundamentals of health and performance, such as brain health and movement.”
ART Health Solutions will spend investment from the North East Venture Fund on hiring ten employees and further development of its app.
It follows an £800,000 investment in January last year into ART Health Solutions for product development and trials.
The North East Venture Fund is managed by Mercia and underpinned by the European Regional Development Fund.
