Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has delivered the 2024 Spring Budget, with key tech policies including a reversal of angel investor rules, funding for AI and a £360m R&D package.
In what’s likely to be the final fiscal event before a general election, the focus was on headline policies like cutting National Insurance for workers by another 2p.
Much of the Spring Budget had been pre-briefed, which meant there were no real surprises – including for the tech sector.
The chancellor did, however, reference the UK tech sector’s growth and outlined several policies aimed at supporting it.
“We’re on track to become the world’s next Silicon Valley,” Hunt said.
