Claire Braithwaite, the head of government-funded initiative Tech North, has stepped down from her role.

The agency, which sets out to accelerate the development of the North’s tech sector, appointed Braithwaite as its leader in April last year.

Commenting on her decision to step down, Braithwaite said: “I’m very proud to have been at the forefront of the launch of Tech North, which is a vital initiative to ensure the continuing development of the tech ecosystem across the North of England.

“I will continue to support both the Tech North and the technology sector in the North of England in my new role that I will announce details of in the near future,” she concluded.

Tech North said in statement that Braithwaite had played “an invaluable role” in driving its efforts to boost digital clusters across the North of England.

Set up in 2015, Tech North is part of Tech City UK, launched by Prime Minister David Cameron in 2010 to support the East London tech cluster.
