For this month’s Hot Topics interview we spoke with EY’s Adrian Baschnonga on the rise of digital smart home technologies.
According to the second report from EY’s digital home survey of 2,500 UK consumers, 22% of UK households have voice-controlled digital assistants, which is double the proportion of last year. It’s clear that consumers are becoming increasingly receptive to smart home technologies, and this is due to lower price points and greater variety, making new products more accessible. However, there are setbacks when it comes to levels of trust – with consumers worried about the security implications of their data and privacy.
Adrian discusses the ways in which smart home providers can build trust to reinforce the positive and convenience factors of smart home devices as well as digital home trends for the next five years.
