Disease prevention and health promotion platform Bioniq has acquired LOEWI, a Technical University of Munich spinout that provides tailor-made nutrients based on patients’ blood work and lifestyle.
Bioniq said the acquisition will boost its global expansion and accelerate its European presence in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
The two companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
Adrian Kapsalis, Philipp Merk, and Calvin Devereux founded LOEWI in 2019 with the goal of making personalised health and nutrition accessible to everyone.
LOEWI’s proprietary personalisation tool analyses customers’ health data and creates tailor-made nutrient recommendations and supplements to support its customers’ performance, health and wellbeing. Details can be accessed through a mobile app.
The startup says its personalisation tool is based on a proprietary database of “more than 15,000 scientific studies and considering more than 9,000 interactions with diseases, medications, and allergies”.
LOEWI claims that 95% of customers reported improved blood data and 89% reported improved wellbeing after three months of using its tailored nutrients.
“Joining our forces enables us to integrate LOEWI´s technology on a global scale, making a big step closer towards our shared mission while creating a global force in our industry”, said Adrian Kapsalis, co-founder of LOEWI.
LOEWI’s customers include players of the German National Football Team, athletes competing in the Tour de France, and the German Ski National Team.
The company also collaborates with leading research institutions, such as TU Munich, the University of Turin, and the University of Zürich to gain new scientific findings in the field of personalised nutrition and health.
Former German national team basketball player Vadim Fedotov and Dr Konstantin Karuzin founded Bioniq to make healthcare more personalised.
The platform offers personalised solutions based on science and data-based solutions. Its scientific base helps to analyse and monitor patient health and offer detailed solutions to each individual.
Bioniq launched in the UK in 2019 and has a presence in the UAE and Russia. The London-headquartered company has also partnered with international medical institutions and worldwide partners, including King’s College Hospital London, Lanserhof, European Medical Center, UFC, WHOOP, and Oura ring.
“Thanks to LOEWI’s patented personalisation concept, Bioniq’s mission to make health accessible and actionable can now be achieved on an even larger scale. We are impressed by the team’s achievements in building connections with leading research institutions and sports organisations”, said Vadim Fedotov, CEO and co-founder of Bioniq.
