Belfast-based Enzai, which is developing AI governance software, has scooped $4m (£3.2m) in a seed round led by Berlin’s Cavalry Ventures.
Founded in 2021, Enzai’s software is designed to help AI software creators navigate regulatory requirements for their code.
“We founded Enzai with a clear vision: to empower organisations to harness the incredible potential of AI, while minimising the risks involved,” said co-founder Ryan Donnelly.
Developers can test how their AI copes with different policies and procedures in “real time”, the startup said.
“As AI continues to evolve and permeate every industry, ensuring that it is built and adopted in a responsible, compliant manner has never been more critical.”
Enzai will use the capital injection to make hires for its engineering, operations, policy, sales and marketing teams.
Seedcamp, Techstart Ventures provided capital for the round, along with angel investors. They include Indeed.com founder Paul Forster, Clifford Chance co-head Jonathan Kewley, Sylvera co-founder Sam Gill and Fleet founder Alexandre Berriche.
Claude Ritter, managing partner of Cavalry Ventures, said: “By centralising AI governance within a platform, organisations can harness the power of technology to navigate intricate regulatory requirements, adapt swiftly to changes, and ultimately foster a culture of responsible and accountable AI usage.”
AI regulation has become a hot topic for businesses as government’s attempt to keep pace with a rapidly developing sub-sector that’s been turbocharged by the launch of tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
This week the government laid out its key objectives for November’s AI Safety Summit, which will be hosted at Bletchley Park.
