UK tech company Deliveroo is set to create 250 new technology jobs in ‘a drive to make the UK an innovation hub’.
The company, which has raised $859.6m in funding to date, will bolster its workforce as it seeks to expand its global HQ in London this year.
The new hires will include data scientists, software engineers, product designers and managers, and cybersecurity specialists.
Deliveroo’s CEO and co-founder Will Shu, commented on the news, claiming his company was building “the most exciting technology team anywhere in Europe”.
He went on to note: “These highly skilled new hires will join the incredible team building the technology that motors Deliveroo.
“This technology is constantly improving, to allow riders to work more efficiently, to allow restaurants to increase their revenues further and to bring more choice and an ever better experience to our customers.”
Deliveroo now works with 30,000 drivers, and the new hires will see its workforce grow to more than 2,000 full-time staff.
The company said in a statement that takeaway orders had increased over the past 12 months but did not provide specific figures.
Founded five years ago, Deliveroo is backed by prominent VC firms including Index Ventures, Accel Partners and Greenoaks Capital and claims to have partnered with more than 35,000 restaurants across the globe.
