Chester-based construction tech firm Datascope Systems has extended its funding with an investment from the Business Growth Fund (BGF).

Datascope Systems develops software and hardware solutions for the construction industry. Its products include workforce management software, planning, logistics and health and safety software and site access control stations.

“In the last 20 years, we have grown from a construction site hardware business to a fast-growth SaaS company with four core product areas that have been specifically designed to help drive efficiencies across global, multi-billion-pound organisations,” said Datascope Systems CEO Adrian Butt.

Butt said the company now aims to expand its “international footprint”, particularly in the US, Middle East and Europe.

“In order to achieve these aims, we need an investment partner with excellent sector credentials, as well as an appetite to support our growth ambitions over the long-term. In BGF we have found that partner.”

The company did not disclose the exact size of the “multi-million-pound investment”, however, BGF funding round sizes are typically from around £2m to £15m.

The deal was managed by BGF investors Pinesh Mehta, Josh Bean and Elle Swire.

“Datascope is an exciting and dynamic technology business, which has all the ingredients to achieve substantial growth, with a highly ambitious senior leadership team, a strong core product offering, and a sizeable addressable market,” said Mehta.

“When you combine these with BGF’s track record of helping tech businesses scale at pace, then you have all the hallmarks of a successful relationship.”

In July, BGF invested £5.5m into Manchester-based digital media platform Komi.
