Berlin’s circular economy investor Green Alley has launched a final call for the best ideas to address recycling and sustainability challenges across Europe.
In partnership with German crowdfunding platform Seedmatch, the European Recycling Platform and London’s Bethnal Green Ventures, the Green Alley Awards seek to find the best cleantech innovations and support their growth with a €20,000 prize, mentoring and the offer of coworking space in Berlin.
Applications close on 15 September and all teams need is a pitch deck to apply.
Finalists will attend a mentoring workshop in Berlin in November, which will be followed by a live pitch event and then an awards ceremony.
“We want to connect startups and entrepreneurs with great green ideas,” said Jan Patrick Schulz, CEO of Green Alley Investment.”We believe that linking London’s well-established successful entrepreneurial ecosystem with Berlin’s rapidly growing young startup scene creates high potential for significant innovation in Europe.”
Glen Mehn, partner at Bethnal Green Ventures, added: “It’s critically important that we find new ways to make better use of existing resources, with a particular focus on the post-consumer stream. If we want to tackle our environmental problems we have to find innovative products and services that fundamentally change the nature of recycling, generate less waste and make a better planet. That’s why we support the Green Alley Award 2015.”
The competition was launched in 2014 to address such challenges as the fact that only about one third of all electrical and electronic products are properly disposed of across Europe, according to the EU’s CWIT research project.
