The UK’s Big Bang Fair has created a series of science and tech hero emojis in a bid to get young people talking about STEM in a language they understand.
You can now send STEMojis of everyone from James Dyson to Marie Curie, Richard Ayoade to Carol Vorderman, when you’re no-doubt having that WhatsApp debate about who kicks the most ass in STEM.
“While it might seem strange to group Richard Ayoade and Marie Curie together as emojis, we are showcasing the different contributions science and engineering make to our lives,” said Paul Jackson, chief executive of the EngineeringUK trade body that runs The Big Bang Fair.
“We hope that these fun STEMojis will get young people talking about science and engineering and thinking about where their studies could lead them.”
The Big Bang Fair plans to submit the characters to the Unicode Consortium for approval so the pictures will be available to share across all platforms and they will continue to take suggestions of people across STEM who have or are making an impact.
Martha Lane-Fox? Maggie Philbin? Dr Sue Black?
The Big Bang Fair has also opened up tickets for its annual celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people, which takes place in March next year.
