Weengs closes £2.2m Seed round with support from Saul and Robin Klein

Weengs, the shipping solution for small businesses, has announced the closure of a £2.2m Seed funding round with support from Robin and Saul Klein’s firm LocalGlobe.

Berlin-based Cherry Ventures, Greek VC Venture Friends and early stage investor Seedcamp also invested in the round.

The company will use the new funds to expand across London and Europe.

Greg Zontanos, co-founder and chief executive of Weengs, commented: “People want instant gratification when they shop and Weengs was built with this in mind. Weengs takes the hassle out of shipping goods at an affordable price.

“Using our service, independents can start to compete for the first time with giants like Amazon for speed and reliability of delivery. Weengs can help bridge the gap between the high street and the online shopping experience by offering a valuable service to both the shopper and the seller,” he added.

Founded in London last year, the company claims to be the UK’s first full shipping solution.

Robin Klein, founding partner of LocalGlobe, said: “To compete with on-line etailers, stores need to be able to ship their products worldwide. Weengs applies technology to offer a low-cost logistics service to retailers and the small on-line seller.

“The service also has wide consumer appeal. The Weengs collection service could revolutionise shipping in the way that Uber has transformed taxis. We expect that it will appeal in cities across Europe that are rapidly adopting online shopping as a way of life,” concluded the entrepreneur.
