Wayra opens global call for 2016 accelerator programme

Telefónica’s Wayra has opened up applications for its 2016 cohort of startups.

There are 47 spots up for grabs, where London will offer 20 spaces, Spain has 10 shared across Madrid and Barcelona, Peru is offering eight, Venezuela and Chile have three each, Argentina has two, and Mexico is on the lookout for one new startup.

The brief is ‘to solve future problems’, with a potential focus on IoT, big data, business intelligence, machine learning or cyber security, but the company accepts “disruptive” entries in any market.

As always, the chosen teams get access to funding, training, mentoring and workspace, and they now have access to a network of more than 550 companies that have already participated in the programme over the past four years.

Interested startups can apply by 11 October here.
