UKTI launches export advice programme with 100 trade advisers on staff

UKTI has unveiled a First Time Exporters initiative as part of Export Week 2015 that seeks to support British companies looking to make it outside of the UK.

Businesses will be able to benefit from the expertise of a team of 100 new advisers offering advice on everything from finance to PI, take a six-module online course to help them understand the basics, and attend trade delegations and other events focused on exporting to other parts of the world.

Former Minister for the Cabinet Office and new member of the House of Lords, Francis Maude, who has been appointed to the government as Minister for Trade and Investment, said:  “We hope that the launch of First Time Exporters will encourage more companies to take their first steps on the export journey and take advantage of the demand for British goods and services that exists overseas.

“Last year we saw 48,000 companies draw on UKTI support; these businesses went on to create or safeguard 220,440 additional jobs. I would urge businesses of all sizes to use this opportunity to find out more about the services that are available to them through UKTI, regardless of their level of exporting experience.”

UKTI says that, on average, companies that work with them earn an additional £100,000 worth of sales during the following 18 months.
