Top tech stats: The gender wage gap, UK businesses’ lack of trust in data & more

This week, we have statistics relating to the gender wage gap in tech, the lack of trust in data and analytics, video advertisements and the growing need for tech skills in accountancy roles.

Gender wage gap

A report by Hired, Women, Work and the State of Wage Inequality  revealed the median of salaries offered to women working in tech is 9% less than the amount offered to men. This is equivalent to £5,000 less per annum.

Male software engineers also earn more than their female counterparts, with 7% of men earning more at entry level than women. This gap increases with experience, as male software engineers with between two and six years experience earn 10% more than women with the same experience. Men with over six years experience earn a substantial 31% more than women with the same amount of engineering experience....
