The Digital Catapult has appointed tech sector veteran Andrew Carr as its new chief commercial officer.
The role will see Carr develop and drive the Digital Catapult’s commercial innovation. This is a fundamental part of the Digital Catapult’s five-year strategy which will enable it to deliver £365m worth of additional economic value to the UK, through helping digital start-ups and SMEs bring their products and services to market.
He brings with him a wealth of experience in the technology sector having held roles with names including Atos, Bull, ComputerLand and Capita IT Services.
Throughout his career, Carr has been involved in the creation and delivery of innovative technology, service and digital solutions, including High Performance Computing, cyber security and the creation of a Big Data practice during his time at Bull and, subsequently, Atos.
He said: “This role at the Digital Catapult provides a unique opportunity to make a high impact, sustainable difference to existing and emerging digital capabilities within the UK economy.
“By accelerating the adoption of new business models and technologies, the UK economy will come to be recognised as the go-to location for digital. This will cement the UK’s position as an innovator and true leader of the economy of the future.”
