Tech City startup TestPlant sets up in Tokyo

Tech City software business TestPlant has opened up a global sales office in Tokyo to help it meet the demands of a growing number of clients in Japan.

TestPlant, which was founded in 2008, already works with NTT DOCOMO, Sharp, NIKKEI and Yahoo! in Japan and the office will support these existing clients, as well as securing new business, in one of the world’s larget tech markets.

“As the third largest economy in the world, and a leader in electronics and software, Japan is a country that is highly relevant for TestPlant’s products,” said George Mackintosh, CEO of TestPlant. “Building on our success in North America and Europe, we have seen increasing traction for eggPlant tools in Asia, and this office, together with our Shanghai office, will support the acceleration of our business in the region.”

The company’s eggPlant tool helps users test software on-device, across networks and in data centres.

TestPlant has raised two rounds of funding since it was founded, totaling $2.6m, and has snapped up two smaller software companies in order to fuel its growth.
