CyLon cohort
Cyber London (CyLon) has announced the eight security startups participating in its fifth programme.
The fifth cohort includes companies from across 6 countries ranging from very early stage teams, through to established companies seeking support to launch their business in the UK.

Digital Catapult wants you
Digital Catapult and Innovate UK are on the look out for to innovative solutions that will disrupt UK manufacturing and help combat some of the industry’s biggest challenges.
As well as access to industry leaders, Industry 4.0 and Hack & Pitch will provide SMEs with access to technologists and challenge specialists from within the international manufacturing industry.
Dr Jeremy Silver, CEO, Digital Catapult, said: “We are thrilled to bring together companies from many sectors of the Manufacturing industries – from some of the leading players to some of the most innovative SMEs just starting to break through.
“This competition will, we hope, help companies to address opportunities and issues in a collaborative way and to offer up some new, exciting and unexpected solutions,” Silver added.
The deadline for applications is on Monday 20 March at 12 noon.
A new incubator
FinTech firms with a specific focus on financial health can now apply to join a new incubation programme launched by the Finance Innovation Lab and Toynbee Hall (London).
The Financial HealthFellowship, which will take place over six months this year, will seek to boost strategic know-how, transform leadership skills and help startups to scale their businesses.
Anna Laycock, executive director of the Finance Innovation Lab, said: “We’re looking for ideas that are rooted in the realities of financial exclusion and exploitation, with a focus on making the financial system work for everyone in society.”
The call for applications is open until 10 April and the Fellowship programme begins in May 2017. Full information about the programme, eligibility criteria and an online application form can be found here.
A win for Pavegen
London-based energy tech firm Pavegen has won the Smart Cities ‘Interactive Innovation Award’ at South by SouthWest Festival.
The firm manufactures a flooring system that harvests kinetic energy and data from footsteps.
Laurence Kemball-Cook, the founder, said: “Winning this award for our interactive technology comes at a crucial time as companies and communities wake up to the reality that it’s not just technology that’s transforming the world – it’s the people.
“Supported by the UK Government’s Department for International Trade, South by SouthWest is a key platform for us, enabling us to connect and sell our interactive systems to the world’s leading tech players and planners,” he added.
AbilityNet Tech4Good Awards 2017
Nominations are now open for the AbilityNet Tech4Good Awards 2017.
Entry is open to any organisation or individual with a base in the UK.Except for the Tech4Good Africa Award – which is open to any type of organisation anywhere in the world as long as the benficiaries are in sub-Saharan Africa.
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 8th May 2017.
