somewhereto_ has teamed up with Dame Tessa Jowell, Google and Founders Forum For Good to create somewhereto_startup, a unique pitching event giving twenty 16-25 year old entrepreneurs the opportunity to make their business ideas a reality by winning access to free workspace and professional mentoring in London.
The event will see 20 young tech entrepreneurs pitch their startup proposals to a panel of leading tech industry experts from Founders Forum For Good including Jason Goodman, Albion; Liam Tootill, Supa Academy, Emma Obanye BuddyBounce, Mark Asseily, State and Jenny Halpern, Halpern.
Those who successfully pitch at somewhereto_startup will benefit from access to free workspaces offered by members of the Founders Forum For Good, this will be for between a few days to a few months.
The day also consists of a pitching workshop and introductions to a network of fellow entrepreneurs. All proposals submitted have a strong emphasis on using technology to change their own and others’ lives.
The Rt. Hon. Dame Tessa Jowell, a longtime advocate for London’s young businesses, said: “Too many of London’s young people want to set up their own business but don’t know where or how.
“This collaboration with somewhereto_ and Founders Forum For Good can unlock that potential and build a mutually beneficial exchange between business, young people and community.”
Demonstrating their commitment to enterprise and technology, Google will host the event within their Campus London venue at Silicon Roundabout, a seven-story workspace that promotes inspiration through collaboration, mentorship and networking.
Head of Campus London Sarah Drinkwater said: “Campus London is all about inspiring collaboration and innovation.
“We’re pleased to host somewhereto_startup for this unique networking opportunity for young founders, bringing them together with encouraging mentors who can help them on the road to success”
Founders Forum For Good director David Goldberg added: “Founders Forum For Good takes the responsibility of sharing skills, time and resources very seriously.
“I have seen firsthand the challenges of being a young entrepreneur and know how valuable events like somewhereto_startup can be, providing a singular forum for feedback and encouragement for these young people and their ideas.”
somewhereto_ has been unlocking free space for 16-25 year olds since 2010 and has so far matched over 10,000 users with the spaces they need.
