Shoreditch Village Hall gets the bunting out

The long-awaited Shoreditch Works Village Hall is now is open for business.

The crowdfunded project is set to open on 10th October providing co-working space and conference space for 200 in Hoxton Square.

It will also provide space for pop-up events in conjunction with We Are Popup and The Dolls House.

We Are Popup recently raised £420,000 in funding led by the Arts Alliance. 

The hall will offer ‘a place for people to meet, drink coffee, use wifi, learn and network’ along with cocktail bar and roof terrace.

The Shoreditch Works team started the scheme back in May on Kickstarter aiming to raise £25,000.

It smashed through its original target and raised over £90,000.

The project ground to a halt in June after losing the building lease on their original planned property seen below.

Events for social good

But with a new location they’ve managed to turn it around in 6 weeks and already have bookings for the conference space.

Facebook, IBM and Red Hat have all signed up.

As part of the fundraiser, they will offer 20% of the space for free to community groups that what they describe as ‘important but don’t necessarily have the cash to hire a big events space’.
