Rhino Shield: Cambridge’s Ultimate iPhone Screen Protector

Cracked your phone’s screen? Gorilla Glass not living up to its name? Make your screen five times stronger with Rhino Shield

Cambridge based Evolutive Labs are developing an impressive looking new smartphone screen protector called Rhino Shield which they claim will make your screen up to five times tougher.

Founded by Cambridge University students, Evolutive Labs use polymer technology to spread the impact energy of knocks and bumps to reinforce the Gorilla Glass used in the iPhones and other touchscreen devices.

In addition to the standard oil repellant and scratch resistant layers, the Rhino Shield includes impact dispersion and damping layers to improve strength. The result may be marginally thicker than other screen protectors, but at 0.029 cm thickness, you probably won’t notice.

Rhino Shield could make this disaster a thing of the past

Evolutive labs are looking to secure £50k on Kickstarter by March 13th, and in their campaign video they attack the Rhino Shield with knives and hammers in a rhythmic assault that doubles up as the soundtrack.

They also drop several iPhones onto various unforgiving surfaces, so if you enjoy watching people abuse Apple products, it’s well worth a watch.

Rhino Shield will come in multiple shapes and sizes to fit some of the most popular smartphones and tablets including the Samsung Galaxy S3, iPad Mini and Nexus 4.

While based just north of London, we thought these guys deserved a mention for both their screen protector and phone smashing antics.
