RefME wins British mobile startup of the year at MWC

RefME has been awarded best British mobile startup at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The web referencing platform has gained over a half million users in just eight months overtaking Spotify and eBay in the download charts and growing faster than Twitter and Pinterest did in their first years.

The platform allows users to generate citations, reference lists and bibliographies by scanning the barcodes of books and journals.

It saves and syncs in the cloud meaning users can manage work across multiple devices from anywhere at any time.

Best of British

RefMe won the award following a nationwide search by KPMG and the UKTI which compiled a final shortlist of the UK’s eight most promising mobile startups.

These firms were then evaluated based on their traction/user base, revenue growth and innovation before being the finalists were taken to MWC where they live pitched for the title to a panel of judges on the UKTI stage today.

RefME CEO and co-founder Tom Hatton was presented the award by Ed Vaizey, Minister of State for Culture and the Digital Economy.
