Cloud games development platform PlayCanvas has raised a $470k seed round from DC Thompson Ventures.
The London-based startup has built an online games development platform that is used by developers, artists and designers to create 3D games and content. Its 3D engine powers both games and interactive experiences.
The investment closes a strong 2014 for the startup, which made the shortlist for the Technical Innovation award at the Develop Awards 2014 and was a finalist at the 2014 SXSW Accelerator.
Elevator Pitch contestant
PlayCanvas recently recorded its 20,000th registered developer and grown its team from four to 10.
Earlier in 2014, PlayCanvas took part in the fourth series of the Elevator Pitch. It made it to the final 25 startups, before bowing out at the Dragon’s Den style event.
