P2P laundry service Lavanda expands in London and eyes UK roll out

“Uber for laundry” service Lavanda has expanded beyond Islington and launched to all of Central London, promising an average collection time of less than 25 minutes.

Lavanda is the UK’s only on-demand laundry service, pioneering an innovative peer-to-peer model that looks to challenge the UK’s archaic £1.4bn dry-cleaning industry.

It collects laundry in less than 25 minute (on average) and returns it within 24 hours – crisp, clean and professionally finished.

Guy Westlake, co-founder and CEO of Lavanda, said:

“Lavanda’s goal is to solve laundry. We’re developing a frictionless customer experience that sits on top of a scalable on-demand logistics platform, and are hugely excited about the opportunities this will open up further down the line.

“London is only the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey ahead.”

The expansion follows an angel investment of $265k. Investors include Ned Cranborne (partner at Samos Investments), Tom Allason (founder, Shutl), Stephen Romney (CTO, Shutl), Jack Waley-Cohen and Michael Dent (co-founders, what3words) and Hugo Adams (co-founder, 3 Kinds of Ice).

The investment will be used to launch native iOS and Android apps ahead of rapid roll-out across the rest of the UK.
