Online marketplace Obby has raised £250,000 from a series of Angel investors.
The London-based company, which previously closed a £150,000 family and friends round, will use the funds to expand its offering and attract more users in the capital.
Obby enables customers to book courses, classes and workshops. At the moment, users are able to book workshops across a wide set of industries (including food and drink, and arts and crafts), but the company says it is planning to move into new verticals such as music, languages and technology.
Sir Peter Michael (founder of Quantel and Classic FM); Steve Parish (founder Tag Worldwide, and an investor in Seenit); Django Davidson (founding partner Hosking Partners and Seed investor to Nutmeg) and Nick Green (Seed investor in Juro) all invested in the round.
Max Kufner, the co-founder, commented: “When we launched Obby we just had a sign-up form to a Dim Sum class that we organised for our friends and family. Now we have a great looking website and are currently introducing proper back-office software for our suppliers.”
Launched last year, the startup claims to have attracted 1,500 customers in London so far and is now looking to expand across the UK over the coming year.
