Mums In The Know wins Best Startup at Manchester’s Big Chip Awards

Mum-focused information portal Mums In The Know has won Best Startup at the 17th annual Big Chip Awards.

The company was founded in Manchester’s Wilmslow in 2012 by two mums looking for local information for their families and has expanded to cover nearly 100 different geographical areas.

The Most Innovative Application of Technology award was won by wejo, which was founded in 2013 to build solutions for drivers.

Overall, 18 winning entries were picked by the judges, who included Tech North’s Herb Kim.

Shaun Fensom, chair of the Big Chip Steering Group, said: “The judges keep raising the bar and yet we’ve got more entries shortlisted for Big Chip this year than ever before. We prove year after year just how much the digital sector in the North is thriving and meeting the challenge of finding the skills we need – a problem faced in all parts of the UK.”

The awards, created by Manchester Digital, recognise digital excellence from across the North of England.
