Last month, Dija, a London-based startup that aims to revolutionise the UK grocery shopping market, secured $20 million (approx £14.3 million) to plan expansion.
Debut in Paris and Madrid
And as promised, the UK company has launched its service in Paris and Madrid, marking its first expansion move outside of the UK.
In Paris, the company will begin delivering to most central neighbourhoods, including Montmartre and Le Marais. Dija is also in the process of expanding to more cities across France.
In Madrid, Dija will launch in 80 percent of the Madrid metropolitan area, including B. Salamanca, Chamberí, Retiro, and Centro. In the upcoming months, the company plans to expand to more cities across Spain as well.
10-minutes delivery
Founded by former Deliveroo executives Alberto Menolascina and Yusuf Saban in 2020, Dija delivers groceries and other household items in 10 minutes.
In London, Dija is currently available in Hackney, Islington, South Kensington, Fulham, and Battersea. Dija intends to be available across the whole of London as well as other major UK cities, by the end of the summer.
The grocery delivery company is backed by tier-one investors, including Blossom Capital, Index Ventures, and Creandum. At present, it employs more than 100 people.
