JP Morgan Chase Foundation sponsors tech graduate trainee scheme in East London

JP Morgan Chase has worked with the Tech Partnership of technology employers to launch a graduate trainee scheme that will train unemployed computer science grads from East London for local techie jobs.

Despite the industry here needing more than 100,000 new recruits each year, the National Centre for Universities and Business has found that 13% of computer science grads are unemployed six months after graduating, compared with an average of 8% across all subjects.

Grads are placed with a company for between three and six months, while also getting free technical training up to the value of £1500 in an area of the company’s choosing. The employer is required to pay the London Living wage of £9.15 per hour.

“JP Morgan is delighted to be supporting the programme as it provides the link between graduates who find it difficult to obtain their first role and companies who are looking to secure fresh talent to boost their business,” said Hang Ho, head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, JPMorgan Chase Foundation. “This is an exciting opportunity for the sector and we look forward to seeing the results for both the students and the businesses.”
