Currency transfer app Revolut has landed up to £6.75m in Series A funding in a round led by Balderton Capital.

Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Ribit Capital, Index Ventures, Point Nine Capital, Venrex and Seedcamp also invested in the round.

Daniel Waterhouse, general partner at Balderton Capital, said he was confident that the London-based company would exceed expectations, despite the current unpredictable environment as a result of Brexit.

“The positive feedback from consumers has been overwhelming; the speed of company and product development has been rapid; the plans for the future very exciting … We are delighted to lead another round of financing, and continue to work with an international team that are building a global business from London,” he continued.

The raise comes as the startup claims to have handled more than $500,000,000 in transactions and attracted 200,000 users since launching in July last year.

Nikolay Storonsky, the CEO, spoke about the raise. ” These have been difficult weeks for UK markets, but where there is uncertainty, there is opportunity and we look forward to continue building a ground-breaking British business.”
