Peer-to-peer space marketplace Vrumi raises £938,000 crowdfund

Vrumi, the UK’s Airbnb for workspace, has raised a £938,000 crowdfunding round on Seedrs, offering investors just over 20% of the business.

The sharing economy startup launched in January to match empty rooms with people who need space to work during the day, with 300 properties listed so far.

Vrumi takes a commission from both the guest and host, which varies between 5% and 15%.

The company smashed its original £400,000 target in just over 24 hours.

Former hedgefund manager turned tech entrepreneur Roddy Campbell, cofounder of Vrumi, said: “We are delighted to have received so much support, including from some of our customers that have decided to became investors. It’s a great validation of our idea, and we are thrilled that people are so receptive to it. The range of investors from across the world is also very encouraging and proof the concept has universal appeal.”
