Property site Student.com gets $60m in funding

Student.com has closed a $60m funding round led by VY Capital with support from Horizon Ventures and Spotify’s Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon.

The online marketplace which helps international students find accommodation currently employs 200 people and is present across seven cities worldwide.

Founder and CEO of Student.com Luke Nolan, commented on the raise: “Studying abroad is an incredible journey, full of excitement and adventure and it’s fundamentally influenced by where you live. Since starting the company, we’ve helped tens of thousands of international students find their perfect homes abroad.

“This round of funding, and what we’ve got in store for Student.com over the next few years, should enable us to help millions of students have the best possible study abroad experience,” he said.

Alexander Tamas, from VY Capital spoke about his firm’s involvement, noting that Student.com had the potential to disrupt the market by giving students access to “high-quality living experiences round the world”.

Expa and Hugo Barra from Xiaomi also participated in the round.
