Night Zookeeper raises £355k to take educational gaming global

London-based startup Night Zookeeper have raised £355k to expand internationally.

The company develop educational games for children and is a graduate of Telefonica’s Wayra Academy incubator.

Whilst the UK is its core market, the game is already expanding to Canada, Japan and Australia.

Creativity

Night Zookeeper is used in over 5,000 primary schools and sold direct to consumers through the App Store and their website.

The game is based around a popular children’s story and allows users to design their own character and story lines.

Most of the firm’s seed investors participated in this round, including Richard Taylor, of educational tech firm Media Taylor.

Taylor says it’s hard to predict the jobs of tomorrow:

In a world likely to be dominated by companies with less than ten employees, the underlying creativity and literacy skills Night Zookeeper promotes will be vital.

The company will also receive a Big Venture Challenge grant, funded by the Big Lottery.

Expanding Product Range

JoshJoshua Davidson, co-founder of Night Zookeeper, is feeling optimistic about the next twelve months.

We have just launched a new game in beta but we also have at least two more products planned for this year. I’m most excited about getting the first Night Zookeeper story book out there.

Night Zookeeper is one of twelve start-ups featured on the third series of the Elevator Pitch. Their pitch will be online next week.
