Lost My Name raises £500k as they turn storytelling on its head

London-based startup announce seed round led by Forward Partners

Lost My Name, who create personalised children’s stories, have raised £500k in a round of seed funding.

The London-based company use technology to create unique stories for children.

The investment has been led by Forward Partners as well as angel investors Tom Hulme from IDEO, Paul Fisher, and Matt Wheeler from Driftrock.

Revolutionising storytelling

Frustrated by the lack of innovative technology in children’s narrative products, they took on the two-year project to create a beautiful, personalised picture book.

Their first product,  “The Little Boy Who Lost His Name” or “The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name” was launched back in April last year.

The company officially launched in September 2013 and so far they have sold over 40,000 copies of their first product to customers in over 90 countries.

A book for you

Customers input the name and sex of the child, and Lost My name create a personalised book.

It tells the story of a child who has lost his or her name, and sets off to track down the missing letters. Along the way the child meets lots of characters, who each give the first letter of their name.

Tal Oron co-founder and head of product  at Lost My Name explains:

We see personalisation as something with massive potential, ready to move beyond the existing out-dated technologies in the market

Co-founder and CEO Asi Sharabi added:

When ‘old-fashioned’ illustration and story-telling craft meets the possibilities that technology offers, we believe the results can be inspiring, beautiful and genuinely magical.
