FightMe raises $500k seed funding, launches social video platform

FightMe, a London-based competitive social video network has raised $500,000 seed funding, ahead of their full UK launch.

Users can compete with each other by posting 30 second videos that showcase their talents and skills. By adding hashtags to the videos, the FightMe community then challenge each other to respond.

Videos are ranked by the level of applause received by other users on a leaderboard.

The platform beta launched back in June 2013, and was founded Jamie Lorenz, founder of live music venue The Cuckoo club, and Joelle Hadfield, former head of PR for social networking site Lulu.

Ambitions to expand into America

This initial round of seed funding comes from a number of friends and family of the two co-founders.

They also hinted about their future ambitions to expand into the US, where they already hold a significant user base.

“We’re also incredibly excited about the prospect of taking the platform to the US, which we think will be an ideal fit for FightMe. We have seen an organic growth in users from the States since the launch of the mobile app this summer”.
