Edtech startup Third Space receives £750k investment to scale their business

Third Space Learning, an online tutoring platform, has raised £750k investment to expand their business.

The London-based company has worked with ClearlySo, who raise capital for businesses that create social value.

Around £200k of the investment has come from  from the Clearly Social Angels, ClearlySo’s angel network.

Third Space is part of Telefonica’s Wayra accelerator programme.

Helping schools

The company uses tech to connect disadvantaged students with maths experts from around the world for one-to-one learning support, helping raise attainment and reduce social inequality in education.

It was started by Tom Hooper when he noticed a shortage of maths expertise in schools and decided to do something about it.

Launched in September 2013, Third Space is now used in over 70 schools across 30 Local Authorities.

Talking about the investment, Hooper says:

We have been fortunate to receive the backing of talented angel investors who share our ambitions, and bring incredible experience in founding and building global education businesses.

Their support will be invaluable in achieving our aims.
