AI startup Prowler.io has announced the closure of a £1.5m Seed round with investment from Passion Capital, Amadeus Capital and Infocomm Investments.
The firm is developing machine learning algorithms to improve the quality and development speed of AI decision-making systems. Using “reinforcement learning”, a kind of machine learning which enables long chains of complex decisions to be made autonomously.
Based in Cambridge, the startup hopes to move into other sectors including autonomous vehicles and smart city simulations in the future.
Vishal Chatrath, CEO of Prowler.io, explained: “With so many games now relying on extended playing time to generate revenue, it’s more important than ever for developers that games don’t become boring or repetitive. “Sophisticated AI and machine learning is the best way to create and deliver that experience, and can reduce cost at the same time.”
Prowler.io, whose bots will initially be targeted at games developers, says it will use the funds to build a prototype version of its platform.
Eileen Burbidge, partner at Passion Capital, commented: “We invested in Prowler.io because we see near limitless use cases for next-generation machine and reinforcement learning to revolutionise industries.
“From smart city infrastructure to agriculture to drones, in the very near future powerful artificial intelligence is going to change the world we live in for the better. The huge potential of the technology combined with the calibre of the Prowler.io team make this a very exciting proposition,” added Burbidge.
