Breezie raises $1m to get elderly tech-capable

Tech service for the elderly Breezie has raised $1m to further grow the business.

The company, founded by Jeh Kazimi, provides tablets with a stripped down operating system that is designed to remove the hassle, clutter and jargon that is normally involved.

The investment included crowdfunding and investment from Clearly Social Angels.

Specialist technology

Kazimi set up Breezie because he couldn’t get his parents to use Skype properly to see their grandson while they were in India.

He explains:

After several weeks of ‘can you hear me, can you see me?’ on Skype, I realised every day technology that we take for granted just isn’t built for people not comfortable with technology.

Specialist computers for the elderly are too patronizing and mass market solutions like iPads lacked real support or care.

Really Br-easy

Breezie provides a simple and personalised touchscreen interface to popular apps like Skype to enable their benefits for an older person without the complexity.

It also offers 24 hour support to anyone who might be having problems with the software.
