Last week, I was one of the thousands of people who tweeted at Donald Trump in protest of his proposal to arm teachers following yet another devastating mass-shooting, this time at a high school in Florida.
I was by no means oblivious to the fact that doing so in the polarised times we live in would almost certainly result in a deluge of abuse from those who didn’t see eye-to-eye with me – and that in itself is kind of the problem.
Twitter has long been a platform I use to share my views and I applaud the fact it serves to spark important conversations and intelligent debate. But, although social media mostly serves a benevolent purpose, it also has a far more obscure, and in my opinion, increasingly dangerous side to it....
