Security startup Illumio has confirmed a $100m Series C round of funding from BlackRock Funds and Accel Partners, and outlined plans to open an office in London.
This brings total funding since it launched just over two years ago to $142m, with other backers including Andreessen Horowitz.
Illumio says ‘perimeter level’ security companies cannot adequately protect information now increasingly stored in the public cloud, as well as and in local data centres.
The company says its adaptive software constantly monitors its clients’ security policies and can spot any changes in applications or the environment right down to the process level within workloads.
It is already being used by the likes of Morgan Stanley, but the company is working across industries, particularly retail, travel and finance. The company has also unveiled a partnership with the F5 data centre technology firm.
Illumio has just made its first London hire and expects to have an office of four by the end of the year.
