Two founders of Hassle.com have left the company, which connects customers with cleaners, following the firm’s acquisition for £24m.
The London-based company, which was announced as a winner in the 2013 Tech City News Elevator Pitch Awards, was acquired by German competitor Helpling back in July last year.
Founded by Alex Depledge, Tom Nimmo and Jules Coleman, Hassle.com expanded its presence to Ireland last June and France in September.
In a post on Medium, Depledge and Coleman explained the summer of 2015 presented them with a “crossroads” – they could either raise a Series B round of funding and enter a “turf war” with some of the larger players in their niche, or proceed with an acquisition by Helpling.
“Sometime after midnight on July 1st, we became one entity, with the best of the UK and Ireland and continental Europe joining forces and thereby becoming one of the largest players in the world,” the pair wrote.
Depledge and Coleman are now serving in advisory roles and stepping back from the day-to-day running of the company.
“The company is in safe hands and 2016 will see it continue on to bigger and better things with us cheering it on from the sidelines,” they added.
Applications for the 2016 Elevator Pitch series will be opening soon.
