GoRun: the fitness app with real-world rewards

Need a little bit of extra motivation to get in shape?

GoRun is a fitness app for the iPhone that rewards you with discounts and freebies for reaching your own personalised fitness targets.

Built by self-titled ‘digital designer’ Joe Leese, GoRun uses GPS to work out how far you’ve run, and using this information awards you prizes for fulfilling your goals.

So far GoRun has partnered with cycling, gadgets and fashion brands including Mango Bikes, Elephant Branded, Feetus, and Red5, with more companies to be announced.

In case you were thinking of cheating, Leese says there’s a speed limit built into the app, so no jumping in your car to unlock those rewards!

Reward Store

GoRun has some neat little features like progress bars towards your goals, as well as distance and time displays, and seems to have a clean interface.

The success of this app really depends on securing quality rewards with popular companies, and judging from the campaign artwork Leese is aiming high with partners like Spotify and Amazon.

Another feature that Leese plans to incorporate into GoRun is group rewards, providing further motivation and a social element.

If GoRun manages to secure partnerships with those heavy hitters for its rewards, there’s no reason why this app won’t stand out of the crowd, but they’ll have their work cut out for them in a market saturated by fitness apps.
