Google’s senior vice president of products Sundar Pichai has taken to the Mobile World Congress stage to talk about the web giants latest moves into the connectivity space.
The exec has outlined upcoming testing of solar-powered internet drones as early as this year, Project Titan, along with continuing its Project Loon attempt to bring wireless LTE to the masses via a fleet of balloons.
Pichai has confirmed rumours that Google will launch its own Mobile Virtual Network in the coming months but said it would not be competing with the major carriers. It will also be extending its Fiber network into more cities.
Despite the company’s difficulties around Google Wallet, Pichai said that Android Pay will soon launch as an API for developers, including NFC capabilities.
