Storm St Jude left London’s Tech City with a bizarre sight on its roads – a giant beach ball.
The 10 metre wide ball came loose from the roof of 100 City Rd at around 6:45am, when Bern Yu tweeted this shot of it rolling across the Old Street roundabout:
The ball is normally found on top of the White Collar Factory site situated on the edge of the Old St roundabout.
Derwent, the site’s developers, had the ball tethered there to symbolise the reduction in CO2 emissions that their new £200million redevelopment would produce.
Later today The Metro reported Islington Council dispatched a crack squad to deflate the ball before it caused an accident.
After quickly deflating on the road, Derwent’s beach ball became the latest architectural victim of Storm St Jude.
If you miss the ball already, it’s still alive and well on their company website.
