Aran Brown is the co-founder and CEO of Navro, a startup that provides international businesses with payments infrastructure through its API.
Navro launched in 2022 and this year raised $14m (£10.5m) in a funding round featuring Bain Capital, Motive Partners and Unusual Ventures.

Which role was the most important early hire you made?
Aran Brown: For us, it was our Chief Compliance Officer, Mike Southgate. Compliance is critical for a business like ours that operates in a highly regulated and complex environment. Even more so, because we decided to take a compliance-first approach, only partnering with Tier-one institutions as we knew it would allow us to build a new era of payments technology.
