EXCLUSIVE: Matt Hancock MP to launch UK cyber demonstration centre at Level39

Matt Hancock MP, Minister for Digital, will today formally launch the UK Cyber Demonstration Centre – a government-backed facility for cybersecurity startups to showcase their products and capabilities – based at Level 39.

The Cyber Demonstration Centre was commissioned by the Cyber Growth Partnership in conjunction with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and the Department for International Trade.

During the opening, Hancock will meet some of the UK’s most successful startups, including Digital Shadows, which recently closed a $26m (£20m) round led by Octopus Ventures.

Digital Minister, Matt Hancock MP, spoke about the opening: “Cybersecurity is a crucial part of our modern economy – from banking online to accessing emails, we need to ensure we are all protected from cyber attacks.

“The UK needs world-class infrastructure to become a truly digital nation and the most secure place in the world to do business. That’s why the Cyber Demonstration Centre is so important for our our small and medium enterprises to develop and showcase the best of UK innovation in cybersecurity.”

Ben Brabyn, head of Level39, added: “Britain can lead the world in cyber innovation and the proximity of customers, investors and the world’s largest corporates make London the perfect environment for startups to realise billion-dollar opportunities.

“The UK Cyber Demonstration Centre will become a vital tool for ambitious entrepreneurs looking to enter new markets and scale internationally. Level39 is delighted to host the UK Cyber Demonstration Centre, particularly at a time when cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important to the success of financial services and FinTech startups.”
