Martyn Davies is joining Ignite, one of Europe’s most successful angel-led accelerator programmes, to run its inaugural London programme.
Davies is well-known across the London and European tech industry as lead evangelist at Sendgrid, as well co-ordinator for the global Music Hack Day events. As well as managing Ignite’s London accelerator his role will also see him supporting startups in London and across Europe.
Paul Smith, CEO of Ignite Accelerator, said: “Martyn has worked with every accelerator across Europe over the past three years, and knows the European startup scene inside out.”
“His support for Ignite’s teams during his time at Sendgrid have demonstrated what a first-class operator and expert coach he is. I genuinely can’t think of a better person to lead Ignite’s London programme and support early-stage startups.”
Davies said: “It’s not every day you get the opportunity to launch and then run a new accelerator programme in London. How can you say no to an organisation that literally hand-built their own co-working and event space, or that has such a great culture amongst their programme alumni that they’re investing in one another’s companies? I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with them and I can’t wait to get started.”
Applications opened today for Ignite’s London programme, which will run from 11 January for 14 weeks. Early-stage teams with domain experience are encouraged to apply by 26 October.
Ignite offers £17,000 (approx. €24,000) per team as well as up to £100,000 worth of credits from AWS Activate or up to $100,000 worth of credits from Google Cloud Platform, as well as credits from SoftLayer, Sendgrid and other partners.
Founders will be based in East London, but will travel to the US as part of our East Coast trip during the programme.
Ignite’s alumni from previous programmes include Jinn, Moltin, Adludio, Chew and Kontainers.
