Tech City News can exclusively confirm Joanna Shields has been appointed to David Cameron’s Digital Taskforce as an adviser on the Digital Economy.
This confirmation follows speculation across the media. The Government’s Digital Taskforce is led by Francis Maude MP and supported by the newly appointed Digital Economy Minister Ed Vaizey.
Continuing role at Tech City UK
Shields will continue as Executive Chairman of Tech City UK alongside CEO Gerard Grech.
Both roles will be unpaid and Shields’ advisory role will offer ad hoc advice to the PM on digital industries and entrepreneurship.
Her new role was announced as part of the launch of London Technology Week, but up until now No.10 had been unable to confirm the appointment.
Commenting on the announcement Shields said:
We must continue our leadership position and create the building blocks to ensure Britain becomes the most capable and competitive nation in the digital economy.
I’m delighted to serve in this role as the Prime Minister’s Adviser on the Digital Economy to further these goals
