Business Secretary Sajid Javid will today outline an Enterprise Bill that promises to help make Britain the best place in Europe to start and grow a company.
The plans, which will be detailed in the Queen’s Speech next week, include a pledge to “cut red tape for business by at least £10bn over the next five years,” along with the creation of a mediation service for small business waiting too long for payment from larger firms. The government believes the measure will help create 2m jobs over the next five years.
“Small businesses are Britain’s engine room and the success of our whole economy is built on the hard work and determination of the people who run and work for them,” Javid will say at an event in Bristol’s Engine Shed coworking space, his first since taking over from Vince Cable.
“As Business Secretary I will always back them and, in my determination to get the job done, one of my first steps will be to bring forward an Enterprise Bill that helps them to succeed and create jobs.”
