Pi-top, an EdTech startup, has raised £3.5m in a round led by Hambro Perks with support from Committed Capital.
The London-based firm, which came out of Entrepreneur First‘s accelerator programme, is creating software for schools to teach computer science, coding and STEM subjects in a gamified environment.
Jesse Lozano, co-founder of Pi-top, commented: “We set out to create an educational tool that can teach the next generation of students the skills they need, to prepare for the jobs of the future, in a way that’s affordable and accessible for everyone.
“This investment allows us to take Pi-top further and offer a real solution for schools around the world to teach STEM more effectively.”
The firm says it will use the funding to expand into the US and India with Educomp, credited as being India’s largest education company.
Matt Clifford, CEO and co-founder of Entrepreneur First, commented on the investment: “We created Entrepreneur First to support world-class technical individuals to build world-class tech startups – and that’s exactly what Jesse and Ryan have done with Pi-top.
“Pi-top is focused on educating the next generation, so we hope that one day we’ll be funding and supporting people who have built their skills on pi-top,” he concluded.
