Digital Catapult announces South Korean partnership

The Digital Catapult, a national centre to rapidly advance the UK’s best digital ideas, has partnered with the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.

The centre, which is based in Pangyo, Gyeonggi, South Korea aims to encourage SMEs to make investments in the region.

Working with G-CCEI, the Digital Catapult will give UK SMEs access to the mentoring capabilities of G-CCEI and an opportunity to work with partners and testbeds in South Korea.

Neil Crockett, CEO of the Digital Catapult, said: “We believe that working with G-CCEI will allow us to further support, accelerate and deliver additional economic value for UK SMEs – particularly around the challenges they face with the Internet of Things.

“We have been impressed with the rapid progress of G-CCEI and are confident that this partnership will give UK SMEs the access they need to new partners, likeminded SMEs and potentially testbeds in South Korea.”

Lim Deok Rae, CEO of G-CCEI, added: “We are delighted the Digital Catapult is working with us to give Korean SMEs the support they need in an increasingly competitive start-up market.

“Moving forward our partnership with Digital Catapult will help guide Korean and UK startups as they look to expand their business into new regions and territories.”

The new centre one of seventeen CCEI’s in Korea and will focus on businesses in converging areas including IoT, fintech, games and healthcare.
