Deloitte starts £25m fund for employees’ startups

It seems that every week a new multinational announces a startup investment fund, and this week it’s Deloitte’s turn to get involved.

The accountancy giant has launched a £25m fund that it will invest in its own employees’ startup ideas.

Got an idea?

Anyone who works at Deloitte can submit a startup idea and those chosen are allowed to work full-time on developing the business. The new startups also receive funding and office space with Deloitte.

The scheme was designed to stop the increasing number of staff who were leaving the company to start their own businesses.

In the two weeks since its launch, Deloitte has already received 60 proposals.

The other funds

In the last few months, Travelex and Santander were just two of a number of financial companies hoping to cash in on London’s booming fintech scene.

In July, Santander announced a London-based $100m fintech investment fund. Initially, the fund will focus on the digital delivery of financial services, online lending, e-financial services, and big data analytics.

Last week, Travelex also got involved in the investment game with a £25m fund to fight back against foreign exchange startups.
